Over coffee with colleagues a few weeks ago in which we share holistic health ideas, our conversation turned to our clients and how many of them are feeling a lot of anxiety lately. Anxiety about finances, relationships, health issues, family, etc. But what seems most prevalent is a deep anxiety about feeling a lack of power in their lives to deal with the issues that are making them anxious, that they feel out of control.
Anxiety can impact upon many aspects of our physical and emotional self; digestive problems, trouble sleeping or waking up tired, lack of energy and drive, mental confusion, body aches and pains, headaches, muscle tension, depression, sadness, anger … When we ignore or don’t acknowledge that we’re anxious it takes its toll.
I’ve had a number of clients dismiss their anxieties as something they “just have to get over”, “others have worse things happening so my anxiety is stupid”, “there is nothing I can do about it so just have to live with the problems”. Yes, some pretty self defeating words whether spoken out loud or as self-talk.
During the month of October the at Hand to Health, in Abbotsford, the discussion is going to be around Anxiety. The power gained in acknowledging its existence and some holistically healthy ways to ease or resolve anxiety.
I was absolutely thrilled when I saw Cindy Bernicot’s next EFT Tapping & Meditation topic for her October workshop at Hand To Health because through tapping we open up to firstly acknowledge that the issue is there and how we honestly feel about it. Then we move on to taking back our own power to deal with the issue. Anxiety, like any other energy, needs to be moved in order to let it go, rather than resisting or denying its existence. I can’t think of a better stepping off point than with Cindy’s amazing guided workshops.

Tap Away Anxiety – Using EFT Tapping & Meditation to Deal with Anxiety & Panic Attacks
Exploring the different levels of Reiki can take you through an amazing journey of self discovery. While a healing technique to share with others, Reiki is also a beneficial tool in healing ourselves emotionally, physically and spiritually. I always ask Reiki students whether they find it easier to feel the flow of energy when giving themselves a session or when sharing with another…the answer is always when they share with others. Why is that?
Reiki is that loving Universal Life Force energy that surrounds all of us, each living thing. It helps the plants to grow, the earth to vibrate, the oceans to flow and encourages our own inner and outer energies to come to a place of balance and harmony. Why then, is it so difficult to give that gift of peace to ourselves? I often find the answer to this question changes, for most students, when they have completed their 2nd level of Reiki training.
I think the answer to this lies in the journey both into and through the 2nd level, as the student is introduced to the more profound aspects of energetic healing. Often the experience can only be described as a “feeling” with few words that adequately give it expression. The consideration that each person works with energy in their own way is something that a student of Reiki 2 will have no room or space to doubt as they practice this healing art at its next level. It is truly an awe-inspiring and humbling thing to experience, and gives one a greater sense of each person’s individuality while at the same time the clear picture of our oneness.
During the Reiki 2 class sacred symbols are shared that help the practitioner to enhance and focus the ways in which they share Reiki energy whether hands on or long distance, whether placing their hands on their own heart or sending the healing to their back… More subtle aspects of the energetic field are also experienced and healed in learning to stimulate and balance the 7 main chakras as well as the male/female aspects that are a part of each of us humbling thing to experience, and gives one a greater sense of each person’s individuality while at the same time the clear picture of our oneness.
I believe once you have taken the steps to further your journey and learn the different aspects to Reiki 2, that it is near impossible to look back. The further commitment to holding that loving energy in your hands, to sharing it with yourself and others, moves it from a tool, to a habit and a pattern and provides a fresh way of viewing the world around you. It enhances the gift of light that we each have within and encourages you to share it with your hands.
For the number of years that I’ve been a holistic health practitioner (20) and an adult dance teacher (12) I’ve heard women say some really disparaging things about themselves. Self critical, negative comments that they likely wouldn’t even think of saying to someone else.
Comments that may have been made by others who have judged them, or that they have taken upon themselves and repeated often enough that they believe them to be true, or a message that has been put out by the media and accepted by society as truth….this playshop is going to dare you to challenge all of that!
While we may have moments where we focus on the positive aspects about ourselves and our lives it is all too easy to become mired in the “what’s wrong with me” thoughts, embrace them and live our lives from their negative viewpoint. What if you had some techniques to use when this happens that immediately move you into a positive focus more often, and that space becomes where you live from? How do you think that would impact upon your life?
During this playshop, in fun and creative ways, we’ll dare to
move our focus to embrace the present and all those things that are RIGHT with us,
play with easy techniques to keep our focus on all that is RIGHT with us (including tapping, affirmations, colouring, meditation…)
cover physical, mental/emotional and spiritual ways to shift, and in that way ensure that the different ways in which we learn and absorb information, are covered
Group size is limited and your paid registration will hold your space in the workshop.
Registration includes: playbook pages, meditation CD or download, organic refreshments and snacks.
Regularly $75 register by the earlybird date for $49 Sunday February 22nd noon to 4:00
